Do you have any idea how much Tottenham have spent on players over the last 18 months?

So they're somewhat up to par with Chelsea, Man U and Arses? Seriously, no, I haven't been that much into football lately to bother to keep an eye to that. I've just been checking out c´scoreboards and occasionally watch a game or two.

Then it's probably best not to argue finance as the reason they fail if you're not sure that's the case.

I didn't say it was the only reason but I've been cheering for Tottenham longer than the past 18 months (albeit I 'm not a person who lives and dies with whatever team I cheer for). Finance does though have an impact of what you can field however it may be no guarantee for sure, there's always the potential to suck due to crappy management or lack of motivation for whatever ambigious reason.

Someone explain to me how is it that Cardiff plays in the FA Cup despite the fact that they are a Welsh side playing in the Welsh league. Any other Welsh teams that take part in the FA Cup? The FA has stated that if Cardiff wins the Cup, it will not take the UEFA Cup spot that is set aside for the Cup winner.

Cardiff (as well as Swansea and Wrexham) play in the English league, Falc. They play in "The Championship", which is equivalent to Serie B.

But they are registered as Welsh teams, right? Is that the reason they cannot qualify for the UEFA Cup if they win the FA Cup? If Cardiff was promoted to the Premier League and finished in the top four, would they be denied entry into the CL? Fox Sports made a fuss about it last night but did not do a good job of explaining everything. If they play in the FA, should they not be entitled to all of the benefits as well?

Yes, they would be denied entry into the CL, UEFA Cup, everything. The strange thing is, they cannot qualify through the Welsh Premier Cup (a fairly recent competition involving Welsh clubs playing in both Wales and England) either, but could qualify through the Welsh Cup until 1995.

Does anyone know why Mourhino's name was striked from the program on stating Chelsea's achievments? They discussed it briefly in a tv-show and magnus hedman who have played (or been payed to watch from the bench in case) for Chelsea elaborated it being not because of any stubborn dispute but rather that Roman weould have thought the wins being team achievements, which sounds rather silly, the coach is part of the team isn't he? Even if disagreements occur afterwards and you're no longer on speaking terms it's not necessary to try and change history as it was, is it?

So what is going on with the Welsh sides? They play their football in England but do their cup thing in Wales? Sounds strange.

The three Welsh sides playing at professional level in England play in both of the major English cup competitions (and a third minor trophy in the case of Swansea and Wrexham), but cannot gain a place in Europe from either of them should they win. The same applies should Cardiff, for example, finish high enough in the EPL one year - the English FA would not allow them to take a place in the CL or UEFA Cup, they will only send English-based teams to represent them in Europe.

Neither Cardiff, Swansea or Wrexham have played in the Welsh equivalent of the FA Cup since around 1995. They were kicked out of the competition, along with the semi-pro/amateur Welsh teams playing in the lower reaches of English football's pyramid system.

The only Welsh competition they are involved in is an invitational tournament (which was set up shortly after the "exiles" were kicked out of the Welsh Cup), where they play alongside League of Wales clubs, but they cannot gain a place in Europe from that tournament either.

Strangely enough, the dominant team in the League of Wales (The New Saints) actually play their home games in England, after merging with an English team (who played in the Welsh league themselves, lol) a few years back. The New Saints are still allowed to play in Europe, so nothing really makes sense here. :ohno:

Falc - All good. I was meant to be moving in with a lass I was seeing but escaped at the bell.

Palo - Coming from someone who spends most of his time moaning about things that went on hundreds of years ago that's a strange point to make.

Did you get out of the job that took all your time up now?

Mark - I'm sure you know the line about the Welsh was a joke.

Not all of them are cunts.

I think some remedial English lessons may be of great benefit to you, Palo.

I love the way you can make racist comments on almost a daily basis, and yet whine when somebody gives you a dose of your own medicine.

Aren't you at all aware of your own hypocrisy? That is why you are considered to be dumb, because you have no clue how you portray yourself on these boards. I'd much rather be a "pinko" than whatever mongrel colour you are ;)

Been away for a long spell. Here's some topics I would like to discuss:

Why is ANYONE calling for Avram's head at Chelsea? They just may win it all. ManU at home...they just beat Arsenal...they got all the horses back...they're a strong team and that coach steamrolled through their post-Moreno hiccup. Undefeated at home. I don't get why his job security would even be on the tongues of reporters, fans, and pundits.

I LOVE the ZERO tolerance policy of talking back to officials. If anything, they need to stay firm. Ashley Cole and Mascherano's behaviour was sickening.

I think Ronaldo is the best player in the game, but come on, son...act like you've been there before...his celebrations are so SMUG..I'm surprised he's not been told to keep that in check by hes players and coaches....that's a come-uppance WAITING to happen.

Arsenal ARE the team of the future. Their game at the seasons start was Total Football. Obviously they have depth and experience issues, but they're destined for greatness. They still have something to say about the title and the CL. I don't think they can stretch it for both, but next year I expect them to RUN away from the rest,,,,Man U included.

My Yanks, er...excuse me, Fulham. Staying up? Watching their next 8 will be exciting for me as the title chase.

Holla back...where you boys at?

Not many are calling for AG to be sacked but all he's really done is take over a team that were already sure fire challengers.

We'll see how he does when he has to make his own decisions.

Agree 100% with the respect the ref brigade. Cashley Cole is a twunt and Chelsea in gerneral have zero respect for the ref. John Terry can't be made England Captain again while behaving in that way.

Arsenal, even if they finish third, have done far better tha anyone expected this season.

The problem is that Wenger can't defend a title and is useless in Europe. Arsenal will continue to muddle along, win a trophy every couple of years but will never make the leap to being the dominant team.

Always (Ali?)

AG did indeed take over a superstar team, but with Moreno departing, they could have went into a real funk of insecurity, mistrust, and ultimately apathy, especially considering the injuries that hit them shortly thereafter. It's hard for any team to be in tune to a new voice at almost mid-season. He kept things calm, quiet, and in order. They really could have stumbled for the worse considering all the egos on that team. Credit to the players for sure, but THAT job was a hot seat before AG even sat down. He was pretty cool. Love the way he handles the media. It helped that Arsenal and United were the focal points for most of the year....they kinda slipped under the radar after being in it just about everyday Moreno was at the helm.

Fulham.

Damn. I thought they were better than to get dropped. If you can't beat the worst team in the game when you need 3 points like nobody's biz..., then you probably earned your relegation.

I really like Jimmy Bullard. Real throw-back type of player. I hope an EPL team picks him up. I think he's good enough for top flight ball.

Yes, it's Ali.

Interesting point you make about slipping under the radar. They really did and I'm not sure how much players like Lampard and Terry enjoy being out of the media glare.

Lampard still hasn't signed a contract.

AF has said he sees Chelsea as the bigger threat now Arsenal have imploded as well.

As for AG.

He really knows how to get his point across while the players are on the field:
