Bah. That actually looks like me. But fuck it. Anti-football won today but those are the breaks. I never knew Tevez could play the back so well. Antifootball won today and the EPL myth goes on.

Enjoy it. Barca did well getting this far with all the turmoil. But were clearly the better side. Wahat about the hhnad-ball?

I feel bad for Zambrotta. He just topped the year of bad defensive plays. Milito last week. Thuram all season. Yaya clearly sucks.

But one thing was confirmed, Fakenalkdo is a bitch.

Now it's up to the Blues.

Good game. Barca again controlled the game but produced little danger.

Man U. looked good but even they produced little as far as danger is concerened. It was obvious Rooney was missing.

Great play by Zambrtotta to hand Scholes that wonderful ball. Some giuventino at work this morning was making excuses for him saying he had no other play.

At any rate, If Scholes gets the same opportunity 100 times, 99 times he does NOT score. Great shot but che culo.
But I do wonder why Agnelli ever allowed the appalling late Italo Allodi to be made general manager of Juventus when all Italy knew how he had "run" Solti on behalf of Inter for many years. -Glanville

Obviously a good result for Chelsea. Nice to see Lampard get the go ahead goal on the pk and pay homage to his recently deceased mother. Looking forward to the final. I expect it to be entertaining.

Thanks to Bayern Munich we now know what has become of Bundesliga and the team of Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Muller and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Shame isn't quite the word to describe it.

In good times the likes of Gazprom St.Petersburg wouldn't be let to play on the same pitch. The likes of Schweini and Poldi wouldn't be either.

Thanks to Tivo and ESPN, I've been watching these CL games often enough. As much as I hate to admit it, credit has to be given to the EPL for establishing its superiority these past 2 seasons. It seems that the speed, power, and high pressure type tactics experienced by the big 4 of the EPL, who can certainly play beyond that, make it a bit easier to handle continental opponents who are not as used to this.

In fact, I think United ultimately edged out Barcelona exactly because they were able to raise their level of grit and and emphasis on defense. For all the possession Barca had, it never looked likely that they would be able to score. True, Eto has been in a bit of a rut and Henry hasn't settled in, but Barca should be able to at least score 1 goal in 2 games against a United team that is also more offensively weighted.

Don't get me wrong, as United are in fact a more ground and ball possession oriented team, as opposed to relying on high pressure defense tactics and unimaginative offense. That's Chelsea's specialty!

Chelsea will be a formidable hurdle for United. Chelsea is motivated and has the psychological advantage of beating United in their last league outing. They certainly are better defensively. However, if United fire on all cylinders, they simply in my opinion are more potent a team. Rooney, Tevez, Ronaldo and co are serious offensive weaponry whereas Chelsea will do nothing without the world class, classical striker abilities of Drogba.

Man has Drogba matured and gotten better. He is a dogged and physical fighter who claws and scraps for any advantage, with an assassin's nose for the goal. Liverpool had only 1 defender who had the pace and power to cope with him, that impressive Slovakian chap, but he went off injured.

As for Liverpool, good riddance to a a rubbish system where the whole is unfortunately greater than the sum of the parts.
Cheers, Mate

I think Romochka has already bought not just the venue, but the Cup as well. Gazprom is going to get the UEFA Cup. Future historians, if there is a future indeed, are going to ponder when exactly Europe passed away. I know when but shall remain quiet about it.

Actually, this Chelsea side is very much Jose's team. Grant came at the right time and inheritted quite a good side. I doubt he could muster such a good working unit. Having said that, Jose had this team too and couldn't get to the final. So Grant definitely deserves some credit.
Next season is the real test for Grant because players like Drogba will no longer be there.

Chelsea certainly hasn't become a better team all of a sudden. It's just that Mourinho while knowing a lot about football was also bringing a lot of unnecessary pressure on his boys and too much attention from the media.

Grant simply took over at the right time, when the team was almost written off as a top contender for both the EPL and the Champions League titles.

Now they're more relaxed and less exhausted than United is. And simply riding the tide.

By the way, there are 250 employees at FC Chelsea (doing what I know not) and Romochka promised to bring them all to Moscow for the Final. One barrel here, one pipeline there - no one's going to count - :)

Sounds like a conspiracy theory.

Chelsea is a solid outfit, playing for pride and defiance. Grant wants to prove that he isn't a crony appointment. The players don't want to be written off as a spontaneous spending spree phenomenon. They are capable of beating United in the CL final, which I think would be remarkable considering the sputtering ups and downs this season. As for Abramovich, well, what can one say? He has his own way of doing this and a lot of monetary luxury to do so.

By the way, I am back to having fun with Klatz on the WC boards. A laugh is a laugh, no?

Christ now I know why so many people have left these boards:

Barcelona should be able to score against Man Utd as they're based on attack? They have the best defensive record in the PL, just 22 goals allowed all season.

Man Utd play anti-football? They're widely creditedwith playing football the way it's meant to be played. Watch a few games before giving your opinion. Chelsea and Liverpool play negative football. Arsenal, much as I dislike them, and Man Utd win while entertaining.

Might sound like I'm defending my team but the level of knowledge in some comments leaves a lot to be desired.
