Goes to show how thin we are on defense. It's almost baffling.

Italia up 1-0 on a splendid strike by DeRossi from about 35 yards out. Beautiful shot with his left foot into the side of the net. Second half about to begin.

DeRossi with a brace. Nice assist from Del Piero.

Lippi is off to a good start. Trap's Ireland drew against Montenegro. So gli Azzurri top the group.

10 day retreat nets us the full 6 points

Beautiful. We started off brilliantly the first 20 minutes determined to make up for the horrendous play against Cyprus. But after the goal our determination dropped. Not to say that we lacked concentration but we just were not determined. Georgia only had 1 chance the entire game. And what a chance it was though. We were very fortunate. We broke down and that kid completely whiffed.

I didn't like the way we played after the first goal but I'll take the result. This team is missing something. Probably the worst game I've seen Pirlo play. But if this means he plays the next 30 brilliantly then I'll take it. What a first goal by DDR though. That was a bullet.

Ireland & Montenegro tied today which actually isn't a bad result for either team.

In other games

I really wish I watched the last 10 minutes of Portugal vs Denmark. 4 goals in the last 6 minutes. Denmark comes back to win after they looked dead. I'm very happy.

Massive props to Luxembourg for beating Switzerland today. And Romania only beat the Faroe Islands 1-0. Germany drawing 3-3 in Finland is a bit of a shocker but Finland are coming on the last couple of cycles so maybe not so much.

Andrea Dossena

what did you guys make of Andrea Dossena from Liverpool ? I think today was my only 2nd time seeing him play. I missed the Austria Friendly and the Cyprus game.

beh, nothing special IMO. But defenders usually improve later and have more longevity (just like hockey) so he's a keeper as long as he plays at a high level. I will say that I'm glad we've moved on from 2 guys in their 30's (Oddo & Panucci). These 2 served their country well but I'm delighted we've moved on.

Well... it was a much better effort. 2-0 is a good final result. You can tell that the majority of our players are not in 2-match-a-week shape. And that's the story with this team this time of year.

Georgia was just non-existant. We should have pounded them but 2-0 is not a bad result (it's a good result). In the end gli Azzurri gained 6 points in 4 days. Mission accomplished.

pretty good display by Juve today. Still smarting about those dropped points to Fiorentina in Week 1 though.

Just like I predicted with my Jose Romero 3000 Prediction Machine: Milan is hurting...

It should be Uncle Fester in trouble and his boss Berlusconi. What were they thinking bringing on Ronaldihno and Shevchenko. How is Ancelotti to put a formation together and try to play those two along with Kaka?

Ancelotti played his usual Christmas tree formation which by now is very predictable in Serie A.... it would still probably work in Europe. Milan's whole transfer approach was wrong... too late for that now... they have to make do with the squad... hopefully they start playing better.

Mourinho RULES!!!

Inter coach Jose Mourinho has been called a “bigmouth” by the chief executive of rival Serie A side Catania on Tuesday after an exchange of insults between the pair.

Mourinho began the row on Saturday when he said his side had deserved to beat Catania 5-1, despite only winning the league match 2-1.

Catania chief executive Pietro Lo Monaco responded by saying Mourinho had insulted the whole of the Sicilian city, adding that he risked “having his teeth smashed”.

Lo Monaco quickly apologised for the comment, saying it was a Sicilian turn of phrase.

Mourinho joked in reply that he had heard of the Monaco Grand Prix but not the Catania official, whom he accused of using his name for free publicity.

On Tuesday, Lo Monaco denounced the Portuguese coach.

“Inter, and I say this with true conviction, have the strongest setup in Europe. It's a shame they have been shown to have the biggest bigmouth coach of the continent,” the statement said.

Pram

I read about the incident on Monday and yesterday. Although Mourinho's reaction is entertaining, the bottom line is that Mourinho should show more class. I mean come'on now.... when was the last time you saw Capello, Ancelotti, Lippi, Ranieri, Prandelli or dare I mention his name, Mazzone make a comment to the press like "We could have beaten them 5-1" (final score was 2-1)? Those comments are saved for the locker room away from the press.

Some food for thought for Mourinho: if you think so lowly of Catania then ask yourself why you didn't score more goals. For crying out loud Inter scored their 2nd goal and it wasn't all that obvious that it was a goal and quite frankly I still have my doubts. And don't look for excuses because the bottom line is that Inter scored only 2 goals.

Mourinho e` veramente mal'educato.

Casati - But that's Mourinho being Mourinho. He's always been that way: cocky, arrogant, afraid of nobody.

In the few months he's been here, he's already made quite a few enemies. The Juventini hate his guts. I'm sure the Milanisti and the Parmigiani are right behind them.

I find him very entertaining.

Great turnover by Ranieri today. Even Manninger got in a game in place of Buffon. Capello would have never done this. With a mid-week match this week, this was the ideal move by Ranieri

fucking Africans rioted in Italy

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7626099.stm

the short of it is, 6 Africans stepped into the drug-dealing turf controlled by the Camorra Mafia and the Camorra responded in well... the only way they know how.

Negro's did what they did best and claimed racism and started rioting. Nevermind that the Camorra would have done the same had the 6 been white.

And here's another thing, instead of being happy that 6 DRUG DEALERS are dead, the negro's are so enraged that they rioted. Go back to that shithole continent once and for all.

here's SKY's first report on it -- http://video.sky.it/videoportale/index.shtml?videoID=1799157921

I guess we should expect palo to come in an proclaim the drug-dealing niggers to be victims again.

Pabs, remember this: no matter where Parma ends up and no matter what you write about them, it will never, ever take away the satisfaction we experienced of Juve being punished for what millions of Serie A fans believed they were guilty of. Never.

I can die tomorrow and I will die satisfied knowing that Juve were rightfully found guilty and punished.

It's still a very early season. Concern yourself if you wish with Parma's back-to-back poor results.

But I 2nd Pram's statement: I got my jollies seeing Juve play in Serie B after they were rightfully related for match-fixing. It confirmed what millions of Italians knew for a very long time.

you know, I only read about Buffon being hurt in the local paper today. The game was on over here but I left my place to go to my own game. When I saw Manninger in net I thought it was because of the mid-week game. Falc, what happen to Buffon ? How long is he out for ?

Thanks for the advice, but I'll opt not to take it. I am thinking very clearly about this issue, believe me. Tese negro's (this is a perfectly acceptable word so shove it, mods !) are way out of line for doing what they did. Europe's going back to the dark ages with all these Africans and Muslims (literally and figuratively). South Africa or Zimbabwe anyone ???? I want you to read the article I copied over to the cut-and-paste thread.
