Damn it! USA has 1 billion of gold medals, we have the chance of winning only 5 or 6 and they take one most of them from us, heheheh

Diego finally showed the spirit that was lacking from every other game he played, except for the first one. Good to see Ronaldinho getting more involved, he still doesn't look that confident when running with the ball though. Congrats on a Bronze.

Dunga called 9 players of the Ilympic team for the game we will lose to Chile next september 6th

Luxa´s name was strong before the Olympic game, but Muricy´s name has been gaining some echo too.

How do you say "Beijing" in your language? It´s "Pequim" in Portuguese, I consider ridiculous when some narrators say "Beijing"
(in Portuguese it sounds like "beijinho" - little kiss). It´s even more ridiculous than saying "New York" instead of "Nova Iorque" in a transmission only for brazilians.

Ed,

I believe I won´t see in my lifetime another one, the modern football doesn´t forgive this lack of organization.
I´m very disappointed with Pelé , since he decided to be the propaganda-boy of Rio-2016, another delirium to fill the pocket of politicians and sports comissions. The panamerican games last year "costed" 10 times moire than the original budget.

Penta:

The Olympics are becoming too expensive for most nations to stage, except the very wealthy! Also, why so many minor sports in the Olympics, like BMX bike competitions? What's next, rock throwing? :)

Ed,

I've heard the intention of BMX was to get the attention of the young people.
I've always found absurd some "olympic" sports like baseball, softball, badminton, etc. I mean, how many countries prctice those things? While Futsal, Beach Soccer and even ancient ones like Karate are spread all over in the world and have no chance. By the way, I saw Argentina won a gold medal in the medals table and thought "How could that happen? " and it was exactly in the BMX, well done.

Brasil had two gold decisions against USA and lost both (football and beach volleyball), there are two left (men's and women's volleyball), I hope we will have more luck.
Speaking of that, maybe volleyball is the only organized sport we have here and look at the results, I hope I will see the day our football will lfollow this good example. The situation of the girls of football is even worse, do you know in which team our main goalkeeper plays? None, she has no team, she trains at her backyard.
I see with envy the structure Argentina provides for basketball and tennis, the country takes it very seriously and ther is a real olympic planning.
Brasil is bi-champion of the world and 3 times bronze medal with the men, champion of the world in 94 and silver and bronze medal with the women. And how is our basketball? Despite having a bunch of players in NBA, they showed no intention to play in the pre-olympic tournment. The men haven't been in the Olympic games since 96. The girls won only one single game this year. It's a shamefull situation, but the president of the basketball confederation(whi byh the way, is greek) says everything is ok, since it's difficult to get a spot for the olympic games. And we have to accept the mediocricity

If you want an example of getting organized to win the gold, then take a look at USA Basketball. They took it for granted that by just getting the best players, they would win automatically. Did not happen in Athen, did it? So while the side has picked up the name Redeem Team, the redemption is really coming from those within USA Basketball in taking the organization aspect serious.

In some ways, it seems that is the story of Brazilian football. Assembling the players to put on the team is not enough. It takes more.

For some reason, Argentina is the best teram in the world in the youth categories. But somehow they just don't continue it at the senior level. YOu gotta bet that they would give up both thier Gold Medals in football and basketball for another WC of football championship.

Palo,

I agree in terms, since they are absolute in the U-20 with 6 titles while we have only 4. But in the U-17, we and Nigeria have 3 and they have none. In the southamericans youth tournments(U-21, u-17 and U-15), we also have some edge over them.

The newspapers were joking saying that we ddn't lost to argentina , but to Maradona's son in law(Aguero), hehehe

Falc,

Where is mmaggi? His cousin won the gold for us today in the long jump. hehehe

But in the U20 and Olympics they clearly have the edge, also in Copa Libertadores. What's up with that?

Libertadores? Olympics? Weren't you talking only about youth divisions?

Yes in Libertadores, Copa América, U-20 and Copa Sulamericana, Argentina NT and clubs have the edge.

In the Olympics, at least UK and Hungary have more gold than them.

In the U-17 WC, pre-olympic southamerican tournments, all southamericans U-X tournments, Confederations Cups and WC, we are some steps beyond.

hehehe, no anger at all my friend.

I think the 3x0 was a fair result since Argentina played at least 3 times better than Brasil, this team with Aguero, Messi and Riquelme is much better than ours. I really can't explain how Dunga's team had been beating Argentina in the last 2 years again and again, since their team had better players and was always better prepared.
I really think that the next coach (I hope he arrives in time to assure our spot in WC2010) will have excellent players at his disposal; if he can extract what Kaká, Ronaldinho, Robinho and Pato have to offer, and if these players incorporate the commitment the argentines have with their country and national team(I don''t think they have now), we will be able to beat Argentina in great style and not only because they didn't play well. Brazilians are too demanding, of course titles are important, but the joy of a show is sometimes as grateful as them.

So tue, the way ateam plays in football is more important than simply winning. Look at how Italia won in 2006 and how Germany won in 1990.

Did you see the girls win in volleyball? That surely must have been revenge for Brasilians. They completely dominated the Americans.

I think it;s due also to the fact that Brazilian players start their pro careers younger & younger. This makes some of the best talent sometimes unavailable for NT duties.

One thing I can say is that I don't think Brazil paid enough attention to Messi. He was free to do around the box without anyone marking him, contrast that with how Argentina played Ronaldinho.

But Penta is right. It will take organization to bring the NT to where they belong.

As I said before if they trin seriousely for about a year with the same group of guys under the same coach, there is no reason why they should not dominate!

Of course, this gold came too late, like the gold or a WC for the girls in football. These volleyball girls won a lot of youth World Championships and Grand Prixes(the equivalent of World Volleyball League for the men), but no major tournment (main world cup) or a medal in the Olympic games. In 2000, they were beating everyone, but in the semis, an old ghost appeared: Cuba and the girls lost and lost the bronze in the sequence. In 2004, same history, beating everyone, in the semis, the russians , who they had beaten by 3x0 in th egroup stage, turned out a game that was practically closed, 2x0 to us and 5 match points, they reverted and won in the tie breaker. Again they lost the bronze in the sequence. everyone was saying they would "yellow" again, they were so confident that they printed a banner"Yellow yes, but yellow of gold" heheheh.

Speaking of revenge, the main one will be with the men, since USA beat us in the last two games.Plus , we lost 2 copa americas for them. What the f@ck these americans have been playing so well a sport they don't care about? hehehe

The guys lost the gold medal, actually USA won it, since they played much better, they are the team to beat now, great consistence of the americans who keep the same pace the whole game, either winning or losing.

Cal,

Kerlon has been injuried for over an year. Cruzeiro, as always doing big business.
Nilmar is a good player for any team in the world, I believe he will succeed in Serie A.

Robinho wanted Chelsea but RM released him only to Manc. City, not a good move in my opinion.

He should be fine at Manchester City, then move to the big leagues. He was done at Fake Madrid. La Ligas has clearly fallen into a lull. The EPL is by far more fun to watch.

Robinho wasn´t happy at RM, that is a fact. Od course that he would prefer to work with Felipão, who is a coach that brings the players, specially the talented oens to his side and make them leaders and references(on the contrary of Dunga).

People say he is very influenced by his agent, of course the more transferences a player makes, more profits the agent gets. His name is Vágner Ribeiro, aka, Vágner "Dinheiro". Robinho will earn a better salary, (almost 3 times more), but at what price? He won´t be playing at the major European Championships as if he was playing for Real Madrid, and his new team isn´t a great favorite to conquer EPL either.

I´ve heard Man City is trying to get Ronaldo too, who by the way, was photographed in Rio at a snack bar eating like a pig and looking like an elephant.

Ronaldo brought home a WC and was a three time player of the Year. I can overlook the fact he likes his feijoada. hehehe.

However I would like to see him play again...

It serves RM to let Robinho go because of the way they chased and chased CR and even offered to send Robinho in the other direction. Clearly showed that they didn't value him. Hypocrites...
