Ronaldinho is happy playing again, he did a lot of his tricks in the last game when we beat New Zealand by 5x0

Cal,

Although he isn´t very tall, Pato´s speciality is the airball, he can "handle" the ball with the head like no other player.

quack quack..

yeah, I've seen him do it in other games.. he can angle it pretty well.

I think I liked Thiago Neves in the starting line up over Anderson.. but Anderson can hold on to the ball for days.

Nice round from here on in.

Cameroon scares me. Very physical as usual.

Holland vs Arg is going to be tough. could go either way but the edge is to Arg.

Italy clear sailing all the way to finals.

I know this is unlikely to happen but...

Brazil could take some cues from the redeem team, aka the US national Basketball team. They started preperation about 1 year ago. They picked players who were comitted to the goal and willing to make sacrifices to regain the glory of US basketball and restore the US's dominance in the sport.

I believe Brazil can do the same.

If they are given enough time as a group to train together for about a year. maybe even half a year. They should be able to win ANY tournament in dominating fashion.

I know it is nearly impossible with the foreign based roster but I can dream :)

Surna,

Maybe for another country, not Brasil. Planning doesn´t exist in our dictionary, if the boys and the girls win the gold, it´s due to their hearts and merits, because they have no support. The girls have no tournment to train in, the boys were picked some days before the olympic games and the preparation was, like we say here, "on the job", hehehe.
Look at the example of our gold medal in swimming, Cielo is a self made boy, his father had to sell the family car in order to send him to USA to study and compete among the best swimmers of the world. This country gives nothing to the athletes and people still demands medals in the Olympic games.
I hope Argentina will feel the weight of the last bad results agaisnt the Seleção and weil play bad tomorrow, it´s our only hope

Penta,

Cielo reminded me about Anthony Nesty of Surinam. He won gold in '88 olympics in the 100M butterfly in world record time. I used to swim with him in the same club. My best was 50M freestyle.

But he was training everyday before school @ 5:00 AM!

Later on he did study in the USA where he perfected his stroke. In Surinam we only have 1 olympic length, 50M swimming pool BTW :)

Where we trained was 25M pool

Surna,

I remember that we talked about Nesty training a brazilian swimmer called Mangabeira, he didn't get the final this year. Our best swimmer in the Butterfly is Kaio Márcio, who got two finals (100 and 200m). It's quite a feat, since he is very short and he trains here in the northeast, he is from Paraíba. Although only Cielo got medals (bronze and gold) , the boys and girls were in 8 finals, it was our record.

I used to swim too, I learn it when I was 18, heheheh, there are a bunch of olympic pools here(only one is public though) and we had two swimmers in recent olympic games; in 2000 , Edvaldo Valério(Ed "the bullet") was the guy who closed amazingly our 4x100m and we got the bronze medal, after that, as always , he lost the sponsors (coincidently, the bank of the state where I worked, that was sold to a private bank), moved from the city to represent other state and I haven't heard of him since then.

Dunga can't put Sobys to play and let Pato on the bench. sobys is only Túlio "Maravilha"'s cover.
Even Palo is quacking asking desperately for Pato as a huge fan of his like he is. hehehe

Cielo was awesome but why was he crying so much?

I also swim but I was so slow that I never qualified for a final. I prefer the breast stroke but freestyle is my fastest. Nevr mind my time but I am opn the Phelps diet, like Falc.

Palo,

For USA, a gold medal is just another medal. "Cezão" won our first gold medal in Pequim, and the first gold medal of Brazil´s swimming ever. It´s years of dedication of his and his parents without parties or girlfriends far away from his country. In individual sports, these brazilians are like one-man army against all difficulties and with no support.

Of course I prefer we would lose to Nigeria in the final, since losing to Argentina is always painful. We can´t give prizes to disorganization and lack of competence. I feel sorry for the boys since they are good players, but we are in the 21st century, we can´t arrive in a high level tournment without training thinking that with the race of God things will settle alone and we will win, we don´t have Pelé nor Garrincha playing anymore.

Dunga must leave before he leaves us out of the next World Cup.

Let´s hope the girls will hnour the name of Brazilian football.

Many brazilians are telling they will support Argentina now, since it´s Southamerica, we are neighbours, brother nations, blah , blah ,blah. I must be a very poor soul ,since I want to see Nigeria beating them bad like in 96, hehehe

hehe..

Diego contributed nothing.. I could have played in his spot and done the same thing: getting the ball.. run three or four steps and then passing the ball back or to the side. HIs only good game was the first one. The squad was good, the tactics were not. Hope Ronaldinho runs more when he plays for Milan. Luckily Kaka is there.

Some comments I've read say that Brasil played cowardly, disrespecting all the admirers of our football, as if the USA basketball team played only inthe deffense.

Now this is the deal for the brazilian football fans, let's get this bronze(in order to up us a little in the medals table) and let's support Chile next september 6th, so it will be Dunga's goodbye and the salvation of our football, probably with Luxa again, since he get rid of his problems with the law.

Was Luxa sacked because of legal troubles or because of poor qualification record? I mean when he was coach of the NT?

I always thought it was because of poor qualification

Pents

Brazil vs Italy in Mens Volleyball Semi-Finals.

I'm pretty sure Brazil will win. This Italy team inspires very little confidence. Italy is a far cry from the late 90's/early 00's when they were the best team in the world for almost an entire decade.

Incidentally, I can't believe how much the US has improved in the last 3 years. Plus with the tragedy that hit their team, I believe they are very motivated.

Luxa had a poor performance(for the standards that time, 3rd place, he had lost to Paraguay and Chile and lost the olympic games) and he was facing some problems with his taxes, plus a wom,an was sueing him for sexual harassment and people were saying that he received money to call players to appear in the seleção in order to seel them to Europe.

Other coaches would be Felipão, Zico or Muricy Ramalho(São Paulo). I don´t think Felipão or Zico would accept due to the bandits who rule CBF. Muricy could accept since he likes challenges, he was coach in China some years ago.

Pabs,

Brasil has been having some serious crisis lately, the best player of the world , Ricardinho was cut due to lack of discipline and we lost at home two games in the last world league, it was the first ttime in the last 8 years that we were out of the podium.

This silver was really painful. while in 2004, the ref robbed us, this time the team played much more and by these things that happens only in football, the best team didn´t win.

Damn it! USA has 1 billion of gold medals, we have the chance of winning only 5 or 6 and they take one most of them from us, heheheh
