Hey, What the Hell Happened Here?

Postby Falc on 28 Feb 2005, 20:12

I decided to go ahead and try to reformat the forum to something that resembled a bit more of what we have become accustomed to in the past. My apologies to Red for taking action without consulting first. I just decided to go ahead with it. I moved all of the football threads under this heading. Those threads that were inactive, I deleted. Some of you may want to edit titles. I reduced the categories to 3: World Football, Politics and Religion & Philosophy. Should be self explanatory. Some of you may want to bookmark the categories to go there directly. By eliminating the categories we had before, it should be easier for people to see what is being discussed and join in. The downside is that threads cannot be group specific. Can't have everything. Hope that it helps.

Just received your e-mail so decided to have a peek. We didn't need all those categories; you showed wise leadership which will certainly impress Red when he returns from his hiatus. Good work, Falc. You'll go far in life, young grasshopper 8)

Seriously, it's for the best and I welcome the changes.

I agree, good job.

But we also need to restrict the number of threads to general ones such as "Greek Football" and do away with such threads as "Greece vs Denmark".

Also, I'd like to have a separate folder on the main page for Forum Issues.

Also, what about a separate folder for polls - so we can have as many of them as we like without disrupting the discussion threads.

Good deal.
Ronaldo - arbitraggi sempre in favore della Juve.
Prisco on Ronaldo's non-pk call - No, non è stato assolutamente un furto, si è trattato di RICETTAZIONE
Malesani - HO SENTITO PERFINO MOGGI LAMENTARSI DEGLI ARBITRI PER LA JUVE ! MA MI DOMANDO: COME FA MOGGI A LAMENTARSI DEGLI ARBITRI?

Actually, I think there should be a separate folder for general chat as well. That would include, of course, "General Chat", "Cut and Paste", "Movies, Books, etc." as well as other sports.

And I'd like an Archive folder for obsolete threads. I'd start filling it with all those special threads entitled "Malakas", "Seems Ukraine and Greece will go at it" and "Palermo and the Islanders" as part of the ongoing restructuring.

The football folder should have general threads for each represented country or region (Calcio Italiano, English Football, Nordisk Fotball, Futebol Brasileiro etc.), as well as separate threads for major tournaments and events (World Cup Qualifying, Champions' League, UEFA Cup etc.) and some others (Real Madrid, maybe a second thread for Italy because of all the traffic on that thread).

I see what you mean about separating the general stuff from the football stuff. Maybe instead of creating a bunch of new boards, just merge the religion, politics, and general chat stuff into one "completely off Topic" section. :) The new format does still completely ROCK!!!! :D

Let leave be!

General Chat has always been a popular thread in the football forum and should stay put. I think people did not like jumping from one category to another and that contributed to the lack of discussions. Let's see how this works. Some of the threads will just die because of lack of interest. We can create archives when some threads become too voluminous or the topic/event has passed. But we have time to do that.

I figured that I would garnish votes from you, Pramzan and Desi. And maybe Zeke would add to that ballot. 8)

Windy

One Word:

"BROOKLYN"

Here's another word:

"Carrol Gardens".....it's 10 minutes away from Manhattan, and is becoming the new "Stroller Land" - I'm sure it's a little more than the usual Brooklyn prices, but it's still affordable....Families everywhere.....lots of yuppies.

Dezzi:

Thanks for the tips! Still early in the interview process but we'll see. I figure I need a 40-50% pay increase to have it make sense financially.
