Yes, it was a legendary tale but not all of it is a legend.
According to the sources I can make available to you, a large group of Dynamo Kyiv and Lokomotiv Kyiv players were caught by World War II in occupied Kyiv. They all found employment in a large baking plant.
Germans found out that a whole bunch of Soviet footballers failed to evacuate and decided to match them against German athletes. So the footballers were told to start a team. Most of them were from Dynamo, with an exception of three Lokomotiv players. After forming the team they played about 8 matches against various Ukrainian, Hungarian and german teams, winning every one of them, most in a route.
After that, Germans brought one of their top teams, Flakelf, made up of Luftwaffe pilots. Kyiv population were forced to watch the two matches they played and the refereeing was decidedly pro-German. The details you saw in the special had to do with one of these two matches. In any case, Dynamo prevailed in both. Soon after, the entire roster were put into a concentration camp.
