Technically Marko, this is the first WC for the Czech Republic. So there is no history. Second, Czechoslovakia was paired with Italy along with the USA in Italia 90. Roberto Baggio had his memorable goal against Czechoslovakia (but do tell us of their history against gli Azzurri). The other team in that group in 1990 was Austria. As Lippi said, you have to respect all of the 32 finalists.

Well, your record against them isn't bad, Falc, about 9-8 when you factor in matches against Czechslovakia and Czech Republic, but you guys have a better winning record against most teams, and that 1990 match was the last time you beat them.

The Italy/US group?

Not hard for Italy at all. Croatia should take the second spot.

Yeah, we got a difficult group, but not insurmountable. Germany, France and Spain will get what's coming to them.

All we need to do is beat Paraguay, or draw with them and get a point from Sweden. Hopefully we can manage that, but I'd definitely want to avoid playing Germany in their own house in the 2nd round.

SONS OF A BI@!#$@% AND A DONKEY WITH AIDS...!!!

Argentina again in a "Group of Death".... while Germany gets the easiest one !! How can they be so obvious !!???

That's why our coach was the only one that didn't want to attend the ceremony.. he knew everything was cooked in advance... And Pele was the one that drew Netherlands for us... how funny is that ???

I know, that's why I was saying a draw could be enough to fall back on if we can also get something from Sweden. I honestly think we'd be favourites against Paraguay though.

Sweden vs. England again. But I'm not too worried, both teams should be able to go through from that group. One of them will have to face Germany in the second round, though, and I don't fancy either of them to win that match.

As for which group is the Group of Death, I'll have to say group C, but group E is not far off.

If everything goes according to popular thought the second round games would be:

germany v sweden
england v poland

*argentina v portugal
*holland v mexico

*Holland could, of course, finish first in this group.

italy v croatia
brazil v czech republic

france v ukraine
spain v switzerland

I've just bet big on Germany, factoring in the possibility that we could be playing them in round 2 :D Also had a large bet on Spain :D Last WC I bet on Argentina and Italy beforehand.

Bineaz

Holland has a tough group for sure but I think we'll survive it. But one slip-up and . . .

Germany gets an easy group, what a shocker . . .

Not that easy, England, Sweden and Paraguay is evenly matched IMO. Could go anyway. If we make it, both Germany and Poland are beatable.

LOL @ Group H... seriously, I hope the stadium has about 50 metal detectors at every gate... and maybe a SAM missile battery on the lookout for charging airplanes. Glad the US didn't land in this group though, for the sake of humanity!!

Not so sure about that. Two teams against whom Germany has never played before (Ecuador and Costa Rica), that's nothing to be comfortable with. And Germany-Poland reminds of the epic battle in the rain 30 years ago.

But of course, I would be the last to deny that it could definitely have come worse...
