Eric Djemba Djemba - so crap they named him twice. How much did we pay Nantes for that piece of human excrement again? Whatever the actual price was, it had a few too many zeros on the end. He's probably in his element at a team like Aston Villa.

Tend to agree with you on England's chances, Ali, though I've never considered England as being a favourite to win in the first place (even with a fit Rooney, there are some flaws in the squad). I'd still expect to progress from the group, however, along with Sweden who I think will top it.

Hope Defoe gets called up as I'd be far more comfortable with him leading the line than Crouch.

big fucking whoop, Windy

like I'm supposed to know a no-name of a stiff who plays in a league I barely watch ? And even if I do watch, they probably wouldn't get a game in anyways, from the sounds of it.

jerkoff.

Pabs - Don't go losing it on us.

Image

Cristiano Ronaldo = cronaldo.

Mark - Of course you agree with me, everyone knows it0s stupid not to.

Even if Defore gets called up it's not likely he'll play much.

SGE has already outlined the ways he could play without Mickey Owen, and every one of them included Crouch.

He's gonna' start every game. Image

If anything, Fergie got pissed at him because he was one of the few veteran players to stand up for Keane when he had his bust-up with Sir MoanALot. I think RVN just got fed up with being yo-yod around the starting line-up - it's not like he wasn't producing when he got dropped.

Over the years you've heard him yap about matters in a way you'd rarely would expect even from a five year old. And mostly, disruptions in the clubhouse are rarely heard about outside them (at least if other personnel has somewhat of a sense of control).

So what if he was producing??? Matters little if you're a goddamn cancer that prevents others from producing. Being a pest is good if the crap disturbes the other team but not your own. Maybe Fergie went all Oscar Wilde about him...he liked his women with a history and his men with a future.

Yep, Ruud prevented others from producing. Especially Wes Brown, Darren Fletcher, Quinton Fortune, Ji-Sung Park, Louis Saha and Alan Smith.

Who were those folks who convinced you should be talking about football? Fellow Swedish unemployed junkies?:)

LOL@The Pristine Chapel  A few more of Bobby's (how on earth did he get knighted?) gems on here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/funny_o ... 612008.stm

I'd defend Saha (but not the others you mention, Leo), as I think he's had a good season, with a decent goals ratio.

Absolutely disappointed to see Ruud go though, as he's been our best striker since Denis Law IMO. While his alleged comments to cronaldo aren't the nicest, they hardly warrant being kicked out of the club!

OK, Lillie. But you seem to have a real dislike for Ruud, and I'm not quite sure why. Can you give me an example (apart from this speculation about cronaldo) of a time when Ruud was behaving like a five year old, or was a cancer that prevented others in the team from producing?

Off the top of my head, I cannot think of any. He's always been very loyal to United and chose them ahead of other teams in 2001. He has always expressed a wish to stay at the club through the best years of his career.

Leo - It was sarcasm, I'd have thought you'd know by now I'll happily have a chortle at almost anyone.

I'd agree with Fletcher and FOrtune from your list.

Smith produced some fine football but was just getting into the swing of his new role when injured.

Park has been a real pain to PL defenses, he'll continue to do well.

Sahas return coincided with a bright period for the club.

Wes Brown is much, much better than he's given credit for and widely regarded as one of the better players in his position in the PL.

Lillie - You do seem to have a bizarre dislike of RVN, are you a french midfielder?

Rougier out as Beenhakker names squad
12 May 2006
by FIFAworldcup.com

Less than 48 hours after their disappointing 1-1 draw with Peru in Port of Spain, Leo Beenhakker trimmed his Trinidad and Tobago squad for the FIFA World Cup™ finals down to the required 23 on Friday.
The unlucky soul sacrificed from the 24-strong provisional squad selected by Beenhakker last month was utility midfielder Anthony Rougier. Rougier, who plays for local club United Petrotrin, was first called up by Beenhakker for a training camp in January but after a lengthy discussion with the player, Beenhakker outlined his difficult decision.

"The guy worked fantastically and he did everything he had to do to try and make it. In the end I had to make a decision. He showed me he is a great professional and a great guy but he was not enough in terms of the conditioning to make the team," the Dutch coach told the team's website.

Go to the Trinidad and Tobago team page

There may still be one more enforced change in Beenhakker's squad as the Germany-based Evans Wise has been invited to join the party, which departs for Manchester on Saturday, in case Los Angeles Galaxy's Cornell Glen fails to recover from the hamstring injury that kept him out of Wednesday's friendly with Peru.

"We have the 23 players now but we also have the Cornell Glen situation," said Beenhakker. "On one side I promised him that he can take his time to recover but obviously with the team preparation in mind (...) I promised him that he can take his time and I don't want to put pressure by giving him a deadline.

"He will miss a big part of the team preparation but he will work every day with physiotherapist and I will give him a fair chance. At the same time I had a very long conversation with Evans Wise and he will come over to England to be involved in the team preparations."

Unimpressed with his side's edgy 1-1 draw on Wednesday with Peru, Beenhakker knows there is much work to be done and will begin to put his men through their paces in a Manchester training camp on Sunday. "I don't only have to prepare 11 guys but instead the entire squad because if one player gets injured before we play Sweden (on 10 June in Dortmund) then the other has to step in," the coach added.
After the week-long training camp in Manchester, T&T will play Wales in Graz on 27 May before facing Slovenia four days later, Czech Republic in Prague on 3 June and then a final training match against German side FC St Pauli in Hamburg on 5 June.

The Soca Warriors will be playing in Group B of the FIFA World Cup finals in Germany this June alongside England, Sweden and Paraguay.

Trinidad and Tobago squad for Germany:
Kelvin Jack (Dundee), Shaka Hislop (West Ham United), Clayton Ince (Coventry City), Dennis Lawrence (Wrexham) Cyd Gray (CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh), Marvin Andrews (Glasgow Rangers), Brent Sancho (Gillingham), Ian Cox (Gillingham), Atiba Charles (W Connection), Avery John (New England Revolution), Silvio Spann (unattached), Chris Birchall (Port Vale), Aurtis Whitley (CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh), Anthony Wolfe (Jabloteh), Densill Theobald (Falkirk), Carlos Edwards (Luton Town), Dwight Yorke (Sydney FC), Russell Latapy (Falkirk), Stern John (Coventry City), Kenwyne Jones (Southampton FC), Collin Samuel (Dundee United), Jason Scotland (St Johnstone), Cornell Glen (LA Galaxy)
Stand-by: Evans Wise (Waldhof Mannheim)

I've watched the game and here are my impressions.

Very high-tempo game. Kids nowadays say that in old times, unlike today, players were casually strolling over the pitch. Bullshit! Relentless mutual attacks all the time. No defensive attitude whatsoever.

Everyone was playing tough, but no one meant to injure. Referee was practically invisible.

Technics and tactics -pretty mediocre. Even Kevin Keegan didn't impress.

The game took place on May 21st 1977. On May 25th Liverpool beat Borussia Moenchengladbach 3:1. How they managed it's a total mystery to me.

Mark, I don't have a real dislike with him. From what I've read about this latest incident it isn't just a comment he's made to Ronaldo but that he's been in numerous conflicts with Ronaldo and Giggs, and that the source of the problem is van Nistlerooy himself. In 2004 he also went out of his way in the way he complained about refs so he got himself a two game suspension. So he's a terrific footie but seems to be a bit of a head case...and being a Spurs fan it's not like I'm weeping over him leaving Manchester either

"Lillie - You do seem to have a bizarre dislike of RVN, are you a french midfielder?"

Err...partly answered that question above. Nah, while I played soccer I was juggled about midfield defence and a few occasional stints in goal. My last position in sports was outfield right (with a 0.999 fielding pctg if I'm allowed to brag!).

Spurs supporter, Lillie? You must be impressed by the latest signing of Dimitar Berbatov then? He's got a great scoring record for Bulgaria and has done especially well for Leverkusen in the last 3 seasons.

I don't watch the German league that much, so perhaps someone who does can enlighten us further?

A word of caution though. The last time Tottenham spent this amount of money on one player (fee is reputed to be close to 11m pounds), was on Sergei Rebrov
