Paraguay is the worst pile of shit I've seen in this WC so far, frankly the worst pile of shit EVER. Their negative football was cute '98, in a T&T way, when they still where underdogs. But this time I expected more. That Sweden and England out of form qualifies comfortably from this group speaks volumes about the quality of football on the other continents.

Leo Beenhakker is considering staying on as T&T's head coach after this WC. I hope he does but I cannot imagine why he would do that.

mate,

Wrong game to expect England to win. It's against Sweden and everyone knows England can't beat Sweden

It will be a draw! 1-1.

I can't imagine England "delivering" too much in this match. I just hope they get at least a draw to win the group, and forge a potentially easier path.

Not expecting anything spectacular today from either team. A draw wins England the group, and puts Sweden through. Let's learn from Germany and Austria when it comes to assuring the result beforehand

And Sweden has been in this situation before. Remember the last European championship? Expect a 2-2 score.

That would suit me just fine. Considering that England never seem to beat Sweden and many games end in a draw, a 0-0, 1-1 or 2-2 would not be a surprising result.

Nice pics, but do you have anything else to do apart from finding WC pictures to post here?
Just kidding :)

My England team for Tonight:

Robinson
Carragher Terry Ferdinand A. Cole
Carrick
Beckham Lampard J. Cole
Rooney Owen

But they'll probably start with Hargreaves in Carrick's place since Sven's so in love with him, nevermind that he doesn't have the creativity of Carrick.

Death by boredom is one thing...I heard on the news that Beckham has some fragrance which contains substances that is prohibited because it's so toxic it can damage testicles. Now I know Becks likes being a prettyboy but is it necessary to turn a lot of other guys into nonces just because of that?

Owens done with this WC if it's as bad as it looked.

And Sven brings Crouch on, who's on a yellow card.

Running the risk of:

Crouch getting another and missing the next game.
Rooney taking a knock.
Owen missing the rest of the WC.

Why the fuck didn't he bring Walcott on and save Crouch for the 60 minute mark when Rooney will come off.

Idiot!!!!!

And Hargreaves has looked pretty assured for the first half hour.

He's brought some calm to the midfield.

The way his knee collapsed, looks like he tore his ACL. Not only done for the WC but the first half of the season.

Cornell Glen looks like he is done for. Not good news for T&T

Own goal by Brent Sancho gave Paraguay to lead. I was hoping for a goal but not like this.

Owen twisted his knee according to the first reports.

Scan to come.

Falc - You have to twist it more for an ACL, and there's no way he would have just rolled off the pitch.

Unless he's tougher thann he looks!!

Why would Sweden want to draw??? If they win, they play Ecuador..if they draw or worse, they play Germany. Which would you rather have?

They are going for the win all the way.

2-2 tie for Sweden and England
2-0 win for Paraguay over T&T

This might just be T&T's first and last appearance at the world cup but I hope that someday we can put together another team that can reach the finals. And score a goal or two. LOL

Would have been nice to beat Sweden but the job's done. Into the next round and with the draw we wanted.

The first half was the best display to date from England so there's reason to feel better than before the match.

Garbage second half, as is normal with Sven's England, but I don't really care.

The group is won and therefore the objective is achieved, even if our defending from set pieces needs to be badly worked on before the Ecuador game.

England played much better offensively today than they did in the previous 2 games. Unfortunately, they also suffered 2 catastrophic defensive failures. I cannot believe that the England defense can be so pressured from set pieces with the likes of Ferdinand, Terry, Campbell, and Carragher back there.

And Sweden was so unimaginative in the attack, just lobbing high balls hoping for a good bounce. Well, I guess they were correct, as they managed to breach England twice. That 2nd was sheer comedy, as Terry, Campbell, and the goalie fanned on the ball, basically letting it roll into the net.

For me, England had the following problems this game:

1) Lack of depth at forward: Owen was hurt immediately, prompting a duo of an unfit Rooney and limited Crouch to take over.

2) David Beckham: a useless junk of a player that is a defensive liability and does NOTHING for the offense.

3) Bad substitution: Sol Campbell is past his best. Why not bring in Ledley King? You can argue that Gerrard was a good sub, but it was negated by taking off Rio.

4) Lack of 90 minute concentration: the team fights, but suffers mental lapses to the point where they expend energy foolishly. They managed sometimes to actually control the ball for stretches...they need to sustain it to take full command of a game.

Look, Sweden is way inferior to England. At least England showed some creativity and variation in attack. Sweden does the same thing over and over...dump, chase, and cross. No way can Sweden compete with strong competition.

England on the other hand is getting stronger. They won the group. As much as I like Equador, I think the English will be too much and indeed make it to the 1/4 finals...where anything can happen when they most likely meet ---> Holland?

I also wish Owen the best with his injury. I hope it isn't as bad as it looked.
Cheers, Mate

Mark - Drag yourself into this century!!

Mate - For the first time in many a moon I agree with almost all of your post. You can guess, I'm sure, which point I disagree with!!

Hargreaves was huge today, along with wee Joe Cole the best player in an England shirt.

The first half was great, and showed how England can play.

It's looking like our best formation for the next game would be:

Robinson

Neville - Ferdinanad - Terry - Cole

Hargreaves

Beckham - Gerrard - Cole

Crouch - Rooney

That's assuming Owen is out and Neville fit.

I'm not sure the lack of 90 minutes decent football is down to England or Sven. He always tries to defend the result and it (almost) always backfires.

It looks like a bad break for Owen.

There is someting about these pitches.

players are falling over themselves and others actually getting hurt.

Cisse, Owen and someone else.

I read somewhere that the pitches were laid 6 days before kickoff??

Tell that to my two knees. Done both of them and neither involved twisting. It could also be the patella tendons, which is not good either.
