Threads Kept for the Records

It's fine, Boye. Looks like I can still progress in the CLPT with a win on the last day, as long as Eusebio doesn't beat you. I'm sorry for not making predictions the round before last; have been unwell lately.

as long as Eusebio doesn't beat you

I'll do my best. :)

As for not making predictions, everyone misses out once and again for all kinds of reasons. That happens.

What I don't like is when people decide to drop out completely without giving notice. There hasn't been much of that this season, but it has been a very annoying problem in previous seasons.

If I ever want to end my life, I can think of no more spectacular way to go but jumping in Planica. Until then, I'm content watching my fellow Norwegians setting world records there.

You, on the other hand, will wish you had jumped in Planica instead after I'm done trashing you in the CLPT!

Trash talk is soooo weak! I would never do that!! Don't need to, I'll let the facts speak for me. I'll give you all a thrashing in the UPC like I did to Eugenius!!! 3-0! (So don't predict!)

No offense, but you sound like my wife, you say one thing (trash talk is weak) and then you do the opposite (trash talk).

Pure poetry Boye, pure poetry.

But the tiebraker is killing me. Two out of three and still not enough to advance? You have to think about changing rules regarding tiebrakers. Next year.

Generally, I think it is fair to have prediction points scored as the first tiebreaker, because the assumption of course is that everyone predicts every time and if two players finish equal in the head-to-head format, then whoever has predicted best should win.

Regardless of what tiebreaker rules we go with, there's always a chance that in a group of four where the top two go through, winning two out of three may not be enough. Changing the tiebreaker rules will not do anything to prevent three players from tieing at 6 match points each.

I did not receive any correspondence from Eugenius, before or even since the deadline, so I assume that's an easy 3 points.

WOW! Choooooooo-choooooooooo........ make way, boys, the comeback train is coming to town again.

After scoring an eye-raising 10 of 10 possible points today, all I need is Milan to beat Inter tomorrow and (assuming Falc stays his course and doesn't tank his match against Felix) I've booked my ticket to the Final Four!!

Forza Milan!!

How do ya like THEM apples???

Same with me... this IS my team. I've trained these lads from the get-go and I'm not doing this for me; it's for them. My squad is composed of some of the best fantasy/prediction players in existence and it would be cruel to exit the competition after losing in the first match by a score of 22-21. They deserve it; we've worked too long and wanted this final 4 too much to fall short now. I told them to never give up, even with 0 points headed into the final game. No matter what, they've done me proud.

This is getting too emotional, I must go

I did it!! Reuters article below:

What a developing story... Possibly the most remarkable comeback in CLPT history was completed today in San Siro as Milan defeated Inter 2-0, giving Campeones 15 points from 4 matches, 9 more than Felix for the current matchday. Campeones is the unlikely second-place qualifier since Falc defeats Felix, Bineaz loses to Campeones, and Campeones overcame the 7 point differential to oust Felix in the tie-breaker. Folks, as a fantasy sports commentator I've covered a lot of improbable fantasy sports stories, but this is perhaps the one that gives me the most chills. Down and all but out with zero points with one match to go, and after being duly thumped in his previous encounter, FC Campeones stared Defeat right in its lazy eye and snapped back with an unseen fury... and Defeat blinked. "I will not be deterred by Defeat, you vile pig!" was the chant sung by members of FC Campeones during the waning moments of the Milan derby. At the conclusion of the match, and following the Champions League hymn, the loudspeakers in the Milan stadium played "We Shall Overcome" in honor of the day's fantastic fantasy achievement. All present could feel that, somewhere above, John Paul the Great was smiling because his latest miracle was now complete.

lol nice report. I also progressed thanks to Boye's defeat of Eusebio. My route was less spectacular though; in 1 of my games I failed to make predictions, in the other two games my opponent himself failed to make predictions :))

As we're both group runners up, we'll face each other in the first matchday of the wolfgang kuhn cup, which I fully expect to win.

Boye always seems to do well in his own competition :D

Yeah, the little Norwegian is on to something...

Be afraid Marko; I have destiny on my side.

Las Vegas oddsmakers are scratching their heads after one of the most improbable scenarios in the CLPT materialised on Wednesday. Odds to advance to Wolfgang Kühn Cup, prior to matchday 3 of Round 2:

Boye 11-10
Falc 6-5
Felix K 4-3
Marko 3-2
Peyman A 11-4
Eusebio 7-2
Bineaz 6-1
Campeones 85-1
