Falc,

Boye has updated the site as of after the CLPT 2nd round.

And yes, you were eliminated... fortunately, Boye's miscalculations did not affect the group rankings.

Is Falc on his way to winning another title?

His being eliminated in the CLPT and not participating in the UPC didn't exactly help that cause.

I was eliminated, right?

Buzzz, I'm still in it with a measly point. I guess I shouldn't have eliminated the likes of Felix and Zeus, because now they won't help me.

True, but not in Falc's case. He won't end up anywhere close to the top three.

To be honest, I have no idea how I won last year. Heck, I have no idea how I made it this far. I don't study the teams, don't follow anyone outside of Serie A. So I was lucky to get as far as I did. Still do not like the fact that matchday 3 was only worth half the points. Cuts your chances of a comeback. Think if Juve only had 45 minutes today to overturn their 0-2 aggregate against Arsenal. It is a farce I tell you.

Falc,

myself, I'm not following any competition closely, neither CL nor UEFA nor even Bundesliga. And I never give more than a few seconds thought on a prediction - and the same, I guess, is true for a great many CLPT competitors.

Bineaz,

As you're playing Boye in the CLPT, you should probably send them to me, though either way is fine.

Thanks, Bineaz. I already e-mailed mine to Boye a few days ago, who appears to have returned from his little jaunt abroad.

I'll post them here so whoever is playing against me can compare their picks with the actual results:

AC Milan 0-0 Barcelona
Arsenal 2-1 Villarreal

UEFA Cup

Schalke 2-1 Sevilla
Steaua Bucharest 1-0 Middlesbrough

I have only received predictions from Felix and Marko for this week's UPC, so I have extended the deadline until 2100 CET today (Wednesday).

BTW, Zeus, the week before Easter I represented the Young Liberals of Norway at the Congress of the European Liberal Youth in Winterthur, just outside Zurich. While I was there, I was given a very detailed introduction into Swiss political life, and I must say it's amazing how the Swiss combination of consensus and popular vote institutionalises conservatism and to a certain degree a tyrrany of the majority/special interests. I've always been sceptical of referenda, but after almost one week in Switzerland I'm more sceptical than ever. The hosts at Jungfreisinnige Schweiz were great of course, but I had to tell them I could not share their enthusiasm for referenda on such things as shop opening hours and on the public purchase of a painting worth CHF300,000. And, judging from the turn-outs they quoted, neither could the Swiss voters. :)

Hi Boye,

just read about that rule violation in the UPC (about you not asking Eugenius to change his prediction).

Here's a proposal to avoid such incidents in the future: You could modify the prediction form to allow not one, but two predictions per game. Normally, the first predictions would be used, but in case both players submit identical predictions, the second set of predictions would be used for the player who had submitted his predictions later.

Felix,

Thanks for the tip. I've already implemented that idea in the prediction form for the CL and UC finals.

It's probably only necessary in the latter stages of the tournament when there are few matches on each matchday.

Eugene,

I haven't received UPC predictions from you yet, but if you're quick I'll allow them.

OK where's palo. There's no way I can advance to the final. Boye what time did you submit your pics because they make it impossible to advance and marko's too? Aah never mind, it's a conspiracy to make sure no Italians win again.

OK so my record has sucked but at least I want a chance. Aah never mind.

Sorry about that, Bineaz. I would have posted them here sooner but only read this thread today.

I actually sent Boye my picks by e-mail on Saturday afternoon, so I didn't make them deliberately so that you couldn't win. Boye sent me his late last night.
