Unbelievable! I score 21 points, second most out of the 8 remaining players, but lose to lucky Felix... Damn it Man U, couldn't you score one single goal?

It's not fair!

I'm gonna have to work some more of my comeback magic the next couple of weeks...

Campeones:

That happens. In the first round, I was joint third of 16 on two consecutive matchdays, but only got one point from the two matches.

It's not fair!

What is really not fair IMO is the fact that so many players fail to show up, handing their opponents points by default.

Apologies for missing the second UEFA predictions.... Hadn't realized it was already this week..... Looking at the results I would have lost anyway.

Zeus,

Never mind. What annoys me about forgotten submissions is that a third party may suffer from them. You do very well, your direct opponent in the rankings has a bad day, but scores 3 points anyway because his opponent forgot to submit, and you are out of the competition! That kind of stuff.

Applies only for league matchdays, but not KO matches as in our case. In addition, in this particular case, it didn't matter at all, we'd both have gone through no matter who of us would or would not have submitted predictions.

We'll meet again in mid-April in the league stage and (hopefully) in one of the playoff matches. See you there!

Hey Marko,

I haven't received your predictions by e-mail yet... Remember you are against Boye and you have to send them to me by e-mail; don't let him get the free points.

5 goals in the Inter-Porto match? I think not!!

You REEEALLY believe your juve can hold us to zero goals??? ZERO??? All right buddy, it's on! You're going to get goals from Raul, Roberto Carlos, and even Salgado who's in a hospital bed!

Sonofabitch!! ESPN in the US is NOT televising the game... they only do one per week and it's going to be Chelsea-Barcelona. Shameful! Damn it, I don't know what to do. Do you know by chance any Italian joints in LA that might be showing it?

Is golden boy Nedved playing by the way?

Nedved should be back, but how effective can he be?

We'll see --or in the US--won't see....

An apology

Postby Eusebio on 08 Mar 2005, 04:47

Hiu guys (and girl),

first I have to apologise for not posting my predictions on CLPT. I was on skiing vacations and when I came back to work IT guys announced that my PC has to be replaced. I got brand new IBM laptop but I lost all my favourites on IE. I tried to restore everything but I found out that my yahoo and hotmail accounts have to be restored as well. Pretty messy. So I managed to post predictions just a while ago only to find out that I'm too late. Well, I guess that's it.

2 Shakhtar Donetsk Alkmaar 2-0
3 Partizan Belgrade CSKA Moscow 1-1
4 Austria Vienna Real Zaragoza 1-2
5 Steaua Bucharest Villarreal 2-1
6 Middlesbrough Sporting Lisbon 1-2
7 Lille AJ Auxerre 1-2
8 Sevilla Parma 2-0

Boye,

just took a look at your predictions. Most of them are very different from mine. If I win this match, this will be the clinching proof that it really doesn't pay to think about a prediction for more than five seconds!

Bineaz:

Welcome back to the CLPT. Now I am going to replay all three first round opponents! Wouldn't you like to take Eugenius' place in the UEFA prediction Cup too? With four matches remaining and only having to finish fourth in order to make the semis, you'd have a reasonable chance to advance - and, more importantly, the two of us would meet again on the last matchday of the league stage! How about it?

:D @ Felix

It shows that with hard work, perseverance, anything is possible, even ressurrection. And I subscribe to your prediction philosophy, but as an American I only need three seconds per match.

Boye,

Thanks for letting me back in. I feel like Denmark, and you know what they did in 1992.

I was a bit lenient with the deadline last week as well, because the participation has been so low after the winter break that I decided to accept any predictions received before I updated the website. That means you're still in.

To be honest, I haven't put much thought into my predictions this week either. But I trust my intuition is still enough to beat your five-seconds-per-match strategy.

UEFA Cup this week

Postby Boye B on 13 Mar 2005, 12:05

I'll be away this week until Friday, so I won't be able to update the website until then.

Send in your predictions as usual, but for everyone to be able to follow the matches and do the scores calculations without waiting until Friday or Saturday, you should also post your predictions here as well before kick-off.
