CLPT

Threads Kept for the Records

Fair and democratic means NOT changing the rules in the middle of the playoffs. If you want a rule changed for CLPT to accept scores of suspended matches at the point of suspension rather than the official UEFA score, you can fill out an application after the season is over and mail it to:

It's not about winning and losing, it's about right and WRONG!

It may still matter for tie-breaker purposes (e.g., if it comes down to points scored)

Hmmm... I forgot there was a precedent. I guess we'll have to wait for the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Board's decision.

Damn, I thought I had predicted a 1-1 draw for Juve-Pool but turns out I said 2-1. I need PSV to score a game winner in overtime, otherwise the Inter suspended game is a moot point other than for tiebreaker purposes.

Thank god they didn't score in overtime. My predictions yesterday sucked.

I guess that stuff about Milan doesn't matter now; just had a look at the scores and I think Boye and I won our matches regardless. So whatever rules apply here, it's fine with me.

Yes, it's a good group, but Deimos may deserve disqualification? That would put the rest of us who are still predicting through.

Well, I don't know where Deimos has gone. He did participate in the first couple of matchdays of the UPC earlier this winter, so it's quite possible he might return.

Boye:

Did you not receive my predictions for the UPC? I did send them to you last Friday already. At least so says the "sent" folder of my e-mail account.

Doesn't matter much in this case though. If you haven't received predictions from Deimos either, I should be in the next round anyway.

Done.

Yes, strange. One should anticipate that when it says "sent", I should be sure that the mail is delivered. Yet, this is already the second time this season that I sent predictions that did not arrive. Perhaps you could send confirmation messages when you receive e-mail predictions. (At least in case you receive them before Monday - so there would be time enough to resend the predictions in case the original mail is lost).

If you had used the online form, you would receive an automatic confirmation e-mail. ;)

Falc and I are in the driver seats after game one. In order to get the draw, Boye needs a five-pointer and so would Marko. I think any other result gets me and Falc the victory for this round.

Which would mean we're all knotted at 3 points headed into the final matchday.... and, almost certainly, we'll have a Northern vs. Southern Europe final.

Yeah, next week's matches are now effectively semifinals, though there is of course a possibility for a draw. That opens up for a number of scenarios:

If I draw with Marko, I will go through on the virtue of having won my 2nd round group (tiebreaker #3).

Falc, will be the beneficiary of a draw in the other match, having scored more prediction points.

However, if both matches end in a draw, Marko and I have a slight advantage, though Falc only needs one point more than us to equalise that.

In the event that all three finish equal on points and prediction points, it will come down to head-to-head, in which case Falc and I will go through.

There's even a possibility for an all-southern final, if all matches end in a draw, and the 'northern' match is very low-scoring, and the 'southern' match is high-scoring.

But, realistically, it's gonna come down to either me or you, Falcone. Think WC94 quarterfinals, only this time with a happy ending :)

No other squad has exhibited the heart and resiliency that my boys have, so I deserve a spot in the final more than anybody. Not that I'm urging you to tank the semifinal match buddy, but if you happen to get lost in the Italian Alps (like the Iceman) and "forget" to submit predictions, I won't mount up a big fuss about it...

Has there ever been a more exciting CLPT than this one? I THINK NOT!

I guess I did good this week. I have no idea why I am here but hey, might as well ride the wave. Which brings me to my next point Campi, my young friend, I am more likely to drown in the Mediterranean than I am to be frozen in the Alps. I am Southern Italian and damn proud of it too. :D

Damn. I was a few prediction points away from winning the UPC group! If only I'd remembered to post predictions on the first day, I'd surely have won the group, even if I'd have lost my match.

That would have given me an easy match against Zeus. Now I must play Felix, who i think has already beaten me this season in the CLPT :(

What? You mean we submitted identical predictions?

The rules state that "the player that last submitted his or her predictions
will be asked to change them." So which one was last? Me or Marko?
